The Photographer
Jason Haupt
Photography is my way of preserving the fleeting moments of beauty that exist all around us. Through my lens, I seek to capture the quiet power of landscapes, the intricate details of nature, and the ever-changing interplay of light and shadow.
Based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, I have been exploring photography for over 20 years, drawn to the emotional depth and storytelling potential of both black-and-white and color imagery. My journey began with a simple 35mm point-and-shoot, but my passion grew when I inherited my grandfather's Pentax Honeywell 35mm — an artifact of time and tradition that shaped my appreciation for film.
While I now work with modern digital systems and drones, I still embrace film photography, developing my own images shot with my Pentax K1000 and Yashica Mat 124.
I am drawn to the drama of high-contrast black and white, where light and shadow tell a story beyond color. At the same time, the golden hues of sunrise and sunset, reflected in vast landscapes or delicate details, hold a timeless allure.
Whether capturing the intricate play of light and shadow, the stillness of a forest, or the minute textures of the natural world, my goal is to evoke emotion, curiosity, and a deeper appreciation for the beauty that surrounds us. My hope is that each time one of my images is seen, it stirs a deep emotional response and draws the viewer into the scene — allowing them to experience the moment as if they were there.
Each of my photographs is a moment suspended in time, meant to bring inspiration and connection to those who view them. My goal is to create lasting memories and unique works of art for every client.
